RAPID CITY, S.D. – Defending State Champion Rapid City Post 22 won easily on Wednesday night as they swept a doubleheader from Pierre Post 8 by scores of 12-2 and 13-4 in Rapid City. 2 errors in the second inning resulted in 4 Post 22 runs that opened the flood gates in the opener. Post 8 scored their 2 runs in the first inning but Rapid City scored 2 in the first to tie it and then the 4 run second inning. Post 11 added 2 runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to end the game on the 10 run mercy rule. Pierre had just 2 hits in the game and Matt Lusk drove in both of Pierre’s runs. Aaron Booth went 4.2 innings to take the loss on the mound. In the nightcap, Post 22 put the game away early scoring 6 runs in the first and adding 5 more runs in the second inning in the game that did go the regulation 7 innings. Both teams had 7 hits but Pierre had 7 errors in game two that they could not recover from. Garrett Stout had 3 of Pierre’s hits and Gray Zabel had an RBI single. Josh Rowse lasted just 3 innings striking out 4 on the mound for Pierre which saw it’ss record fall to 14-10 on the season. Post 8 takes today off and will open up a weekend tournament in Minot, North Dakota tomorrow with games against the Saskatoon Cubs and Minot Magic. They will also play games on Saturday and Sunday.
