CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. — Plankinton racked up 16 hits and Alex Loes struck out 15 batters in a 15-5 Pony Hills League victory over Chamberlain in amateur baseball Thursday night in Chamberlain. The Bankers put the game away by scoring eight runs in the eighth inning.. Loes gave up two hits, two runs and issued three walks in the six-inning start. Loes, Chris Hill and Trevor Salmonson recorded three hits apiece. Salmonson drove in two runs. Evan Fleury, Remington Rossow and Adam Schroeder each recorded two hits for Chamberlain while Mike Schwartz took the loss. He gave up 13 hits, 11 runs (eight earned) and struck out six batters in 7.2 innings. Plankton remained unbeaten in Pony Hills League play at 7-0 and 8-1 overall. Chamberlain fell to 3-5 in Pony Hills League action. The Mallards host Colome on Sunday while Plankinton travels to West of Hayes to face Four Corners on Sunday.
MILLER, S.D. — Rafael Clemente hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning, sending Miller/Wessington past Kimball/White Lake 2-1 in Pony Hills League amatuer baseball on Thursday night in Miller. Clemente had a three-hit game, while Josh Hoffman added a pair of the 9 hits the Outlaws recorded in the win. Cody Cotton tossed all 10 innings in the game fanning 10 and allowed just one earned run on nine hits. Ryan Smith tossed 9 1/3 frames, giving up two earned runs but took the loss for Kimball-White Lake. He also struck out seven batters. Jordan Hanten and Jesse Kroupa both finished with two hits for the Nationals. Smith drove in their only run. Miller/Wessington improved to 2-5 in Pony Hills League play while Kimball White Lake fell to 3-2 in League action. Miller hosts Wessington Springs on Sunday in Miller while Kimball/White Lake plays at South Central on Sunday in Gregory.
