Irene Rodeo Held on SDRA Summer Schedule Last Weekend

IRENE, S.D. – The South Dakota Rodeo Association’s annual Irene Rodeo was held Friday and Saturday in Irene. The winners included Travis Fagen of Scared Heart, MN in Barebaclk Riding with a score of 71. Dori Hollenbeck of Winner had a winning time of 13:18 to take the Barrel Racing. Blaine Beaty of Detriot Lakes, MN won the Bull Riding with a score of 72. In Calf Roping, Reece Ullerich of Humbolt was the winner with a score of 11:40. Kolton Salonen of Gregory and Miles Kreeger of Lake Andes each scored rides of 68 to share the Saddle Bronc Riding while Mark Schumacher of Wolsey won the Senior Men’s Breakaway with a score of 3.10. Sawyer Strand of Sioux Falls captured the Steer Wrestling title with a score of 4.60. Shawnee Sherwood of Grace, Idaho won the Ladies Breakaway with a score of 2.60 and Reece Ullerich of Humbolt took the Calf Roping title with a score of 11.40. Ashley Price of Faith and Matt Zancanella of Aurora took the Team Calf Roping with a score of 7.10. Jon Peterson of Belle Fourche and Trae Smith took the Team Roping title with a score of 5.000 while Mick Varilek of Geddes and Gary Garbe of Alpena tied for the Team Penning with a score of 51. The Irene rodeo was one of two held last weekend on the SDRA Rodeo Schedule. The other was in Sisseton. This weekend there will be annual 4th of July Rodeos held in Interior July 3, 4 and 5 and the 93rd annual Ft. Pierre 4th of July Rodo on July 4th and 5th in Ft. Pierre.
