Pierre Beaten Soundly by Minot

PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Post 8 American Legion Baseball team was beaten on the 10 run mercy rule Monday by Minot, North Dakota in a game at Hyde Stadium. Minot jumped on Pierre for a 10-0 with 3 runs in the first inning and never looked back as the North Dakota squad took 2 of 3 from Pierre over the weekend and won 3 of the 4 meetings the two teams had on the season. Minot had 9 hits in the contest and limited Pierre to just 4. Gray Zabel took the loss as he lasted the first 4 innings allowing 7 runs while striking out 5. Josh Rowse pitched the 5th inning and allowed 3 runs to score as the game was called after 5 innings on the mercy rule. With the loss, Pierre’s record slipped to 18 and 14 as they host Watertown in a game at 5:30 pm later Monday at Hyde Stadium.
