PIERRE, S.D. – the Pierre Post 8 American Legion baseball team scored multiple runs in each of the first 5 innings to down Watertown 15-5 at Hyde Stadium on Monday in the second game of the day for both teams in a triangular with Minot, N.D. Andrew Coverdale led Pierre’s 14 hit attack on the night with 3 hits while driving in 3 runs. Gray Zabel and Jack Van Camp each had 3 hits and 3 RBI’s apiece as well. Aaron Booth went the distance on the mound to pick up the win as he allowed just 2 hits. The game had misplays in the field as Pierre committed 4 errors and Watertown had 5 on the night. With the win, Pierre improved to 19-14 on the season and will travel to the Twin Cities this weekend to play in a tournament in Minnetonka, Minnesota. They will face Papillion, Neb. at 2 pm and West Fargo at 4:30 pm on Friday in pool play.
