PIERRE, S.D. – The final Sanford Junior Series qualifying Golf tournament was played on Monday at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre. The Sanford Junior Series is for high school aged golfers who are looking at continuing their golfing careers in college. Phil Endersen of Sioux Falls won the Boys College Prep Division firing a 1 under par 71 and claiming a 2 shot victory over runners up Kevin Kolb of Spearfish and William Sanford of Sioux Falls. In the Girls College Prep Division, Carley Kunkel of Sioux Falls prevailed winning the title with a 7 over par 79 and claiming a 3 shot victory over runner up Cassidy Gough of Aberdeen. Sophie Jansa of Sioux Falls was third with an 84. A total of 29 boys and 14 girls took part in the tournament. The Summer Series will wrap up with the championship tournament being golfed at the Sutton Bay Golf Course on July 30. The top point leaders will also receive an invitation to the Sanford Golf Championship, a two-day event on August 5-6 in Sioux Falls.
