GULF SHORES, Ala. – Black Hills State University cross country coach, Scott Walkinshaw, was recently inducted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame. He was honored for his impressive resume coaching the Yellow Jackets over 11 years in the NAIA. The induction ceremony took place at the 2019 NAIA Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Nationally, Walkinshaw has coached four National Meet Runner-Up Teams. Overall, during the NAIA era under coach Walkinshaw, the Yellow Jackets had 13 individual conference champions in cross country, while 69 women and 71 men earned All-Conference honors after placing top-15 at the conference meet. Walkinshaw is about to enter his 22nd year at Black Hills State University, acting as the head coach of the Yellow Jacket cross country team. Previously, he was the head coach of the track and field teams as well, and now serves as an assistant, leading the distance runners.
