PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers 6 game winning streak was snapped on Sunday as the Spearfish Sasquatch downed the Trappers 13-11 at Hyde Stadiium to salvage the final game of a 5 game series. After the Trappers swept the Sasquatch in a doubleheader on Saturday, Spearfish scored early with a 3 run first inning and built a 6-2 lead after 5. But a 7 run 5th inning put the Trappers ahead but only briefly. Spearfish broke through with 6 runs in the 8th inning to take the lead and held on for the win. Spearfish had 13 hits in the game but more importantly, the Trappers committed 6 errors. Billy Morleand became the first player in Trappers and Expedition League history to play all 9 positions in the same game including the 9th inning on the mound. The Trapper had just 5 hits in the game. Seth Brewer hit his first home run of the season, a grand slam for the only extra base hit. Pierre used 5 pitchers, with Nate Morris, the third pitcher used on the night taking the loss. Spearfish hit 3 home runs in the game. With the loss and the Badlands Big Sticks win, the Trappers trail the Big Sticks by 2 games in the Lewis Division second half pennant race for the playoffs. An announced attendance of 705 viewed the game that took 3 hours and 43 minutes to play.
