PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Trappers split a double header with the Fremont Moo on Tuesday night in Expedition League Baseball in Pierre. The Trappers took the opener 3-1 but Fremont came back in the nightcap for a 7-6 victory. In the first game, AJ Fell went the full 7 innings in picking up the win allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 4. Pierre out hit Fremont 7-4 in the contest with Alex Gonzales getting a triple for the lone extra base hit in the game. Zane Phelps drove in his league leading 55th run of the season. In the nightcap, Pierre had just 6 hits with 3 of those for extra bases. 3 Fremont pitchers combined for the win for the Moo while the Trappers threw fur hurlers with Nate Morris the last pitcher taking the loss allowing 2 runs over 3 innings of work. The Trappers are 31-28 on the season and remained 3 games back of the Badlands Big Sticks in the second half Lewis Division standings. Pierre is off tonight as they travel to Minot for the final series of the regular season against the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs tomorrow night.
