MITCHELL, S.D. – The Dell Rapids Mudcats pounded out 20 hits on the way to a 16-6 victory over Four Corners in the second round in the South Dakota State Class B Amateur Baseball Tournament on Wednesday at Mitchell’s Cadwell Park. Mark Houck led the way for Dell Rapids going 3-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Chad Hunt and Josh Roemen each had three hits and three runs scored. Justin Allen had three hits, and Brad Hand, Casey Schlechter and Kris Dozark had two hits each for Four Corners. Brian Graves doubled, driving in two. Nathan Hainy added a hit in the effort. Josh Davies took the loss on the mound for Four Corners who saw their season end. In the other second round game played last night, Canova scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to record a 3-1 victory over Flandreau in a rematch of last year’s Class B championship game.

The quarterfinals of the Class B State Amateur baseball tournament begin tonight with two games. Winner-Colome takes on Plankinton in the first game at 5:30 p.m. followed by Alexandria vs. Milbank at 7:30 p.m.
