MITCHELL, S.D. – Tyson Gau pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight and allowing just five hits to lead the Alexandria Angels to a 2-0 victory over Garretson on Sunday afternoon in the championship of the State Class B Amateur Baseball tournament in Mitchell. The Angels claimed their fourth title since 2013, with runner-up finishes in 2014 and 2015. Derek Fischer was brilliant for the Blue Jays in a losing effort, also going all nine innings while striking out seven.
MITCHELL, S.D. – After three second-place finishes in the past four years, and four overall, the Sioux Falls Brewers finally find themselves atop Class A amateur baseball. It consistently hit Yankton’s three pitchers and did just enough on the mound, topping Yankton, 10-7, on Sunday at Cadwell Park in the Class A championship game. It’s the first championship in Brewers history and the first Sioux Falls team to win since the Silver Bullets in 1995.
