There will be more to see and do at the FFA Ag Adventure Center at the South Dakota State Fair this year– and it’s all free for fair attendees.
Superintendent Chris Howard says the FFA Ag Adventure Center brings agriculture to life for visitors. He says we live in a world that knows very little about where their food comes from. SD FFA members, advisors and farmers will be in the FFA Ag Adventure Center showcasing modern agriculture practices, communicating commitment to natural resources and demonstrating wholesome, safe food production.
The expanded FFA Ag Adventure Center has areas dedicated to pigs, beef cattle, dairy cattle, chickens, soil & range conservation, wheat, soybeans and corn. Howard says at any given moment, you may see a sow giving birth, bottle feed a calf or watch baby chickens hatch. He says there are interactive activities like milking a cow and feeding pigs and special activities planned for each day.
The FFA Ag Adventure Center is located just off of Livestock Ave, west of the Open Class Beef Complex and will be open daily from 9am-8pm. The SD State Fair runs from Thursday, Aug. 29 through Monday, Sept. 2.
