The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work will begin Sept. 4, on an asphalt resurfacing project on highways 1804 and 204 near Pierre.
The project limits are from the junction of Highway 14 north on Highway 1804 to one mile north of the Hughes/Sully County line and across the dam on Highway 204. The contractor will begin by milling one inch of the existing surface starting Wednesday, Sept. 4, followed by asphalt surfacing beginning on or about Sept. 12. During all operations traffic will be carried through the work zones with the use of flaggers and/or a pilot car. Motorists can expect delays during these times and will need to plan accordingly. The contractor expects to complete the project and restore traffic by Oct. 15, depending on weather, with an overall completion date of Nov. 1.
