PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Fall Fastpitch Softball team opened their season over the weekend in Sioux Falls where they lost the opener and finished with a tie game due to time constraints in the second contest. Pierre started their season on the short end of a 12-2 verdict against a well rounded Pipestone Arrows team who hit the ball well, with 6 of the twelve runs produced by two 3-RBI hits. Allycen Herrman had a single and a triple and Kamden Carter had a pair of singles to lead Pierre’s 7 hit offensive attack. Kenzie Gronlund pitched the opener giving up 13 hits against 31 batters, and striking out 4. The second game ended a 4-4 tie with Baltic. Kamden Carter, Shelby Roman, and Allycen Herrman would all gather 2 hits a piece. Herrman and Allison Johnson would each gather a double, and Jessi Buntrock added a deep triple to the tally. Buntrock allowed 12 hits while getting 7 strikeouts. The JV would open with a win over Tri-Valley and a loss to Brookings. The Fallballers will have labor day off, and resume their season Sunday September 8th.
