PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Fall Fastpitch High School Softball team lost a pair of low scoring close games on Sunday when they dropped a 3-2 verdict to Tea Area and then were shutout 2-0 by Vermillion. In the game against Tea Area Kenzy Gronlund and Allycen Herrman would lead the hitting with a single and a double each. Kamden Carter and Jessi Buntrock would each contribute a single. Pierre outhit Tea 6-3, but gave up 2 unearned runs. Gronlund was solid on the hill all game, facing 19, and striking out 7, while only giving up 1 earned run. In the setback against Vermillion, Pierre bats went silent as they had a no hitter throw against them. Buntrock would only allow 2 earned runs on 6 hits in the tough luck loss. Buntrock was strong all game, striking out 8 against 27 batters. The Pierre JV lost their first game to Tea 10-2, and lost their 2nd game 9-0 against Del Rapids. Pierre’s Middle school had a strong showing winning two games against Madison 11-1, and Harrisburg 10-2. The Fall-ballers will be home one last time this Sunday for senior day against Baltic and Del Rapids. First pitch is at 12:30 p.m. at the Oahe Softball Complex.
