MITCHELL, S.D. – The Pierre Governor soccer teams split matches on Tuesday in Mitchell. In the girls match, Mitchell surprised the two time defending state champion Governors to record a 3-1 win. Brianna Sargent scored the Govs lone goal in the second half. In the boys contest the Governors broke away from a 1-1 tie at halftime to score three times in the 15 minute period in the second half for a 4-2 win over Mitchell. Carston Miller had the hat trick for Pierre scoring 3 goals in the game all in the second half. Clay Alban scored the Pierre goal in the first half on a penalty kick. The win improved Pierre’s record to 2-3-2 for the boys while the girls record fell to 2-3-2. The Governors are right back at it tomorrow when they host Sioux Falls Roosevelt at the Pierre Indian Learning Center Soccer Fields.
