YANKTON, S.D. – The Pierre Governor boys and girls soccer teams traveled to Yankton for the second to last games of the regular season on Tuesday and the Governor boys struggled as Yankton exploded for 6 goals in a 6-1 win. In the girls game, Janaina Zanin scored the only goal as the Governor girls were able to record a tie with the top seed in the SoDak 16 standings going into the match. Pierre and Yankton finished 1-1 on the game. The tie kept Pierre’s hopes of first round home game in the upcoming SoDak 16 playoffs in check while the Governors boys are now lingering on the border of missing the playoffs. The two teams have one game remaining tomorrow when they travel to Watertown to face the Arrows.
