YANKTON, S.D. – Sioux Falls Roosevelt edged out Sioux Falls O’Gorman and Sioux Falls Lincoln for the team title of the State Class AA boys golf tournament that wrapped up Tuesday in Yankton and the Hillcrest Country Club. Roosevelt fired a 625 to claim a two shot team victory over O’Gorma while Lincoln fired a 627 as well to tie for second place. The Pierre Governor golfers fired a second round 355 for a two round total 716 to finish 12th in the 17 team tournament. Individually, Jack Lundin of Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the state title with a second round 77 and two round total 150 to finish two strokes better than 3 other golfers who tied for second. The best finish for the Governors was from Carter Karst. The senior fired a second round 83 to finish with a two round total of 168 and in a tie for 35th. Next in line was Grady Klundt who had a two round total 175 after a second round 88 to finish tied for 45th. Raef Briggs had a two round total 184 while Sawyer Sonnenschein closed with a 189 two round total, Zain Baus had a 191 and Luke Olson finished his first state tournament with a two round total 198. There were a total of 95 golfers who finiished the tournament.
VERMILLION, S.D. – Sioux Falls Christian led from start to finish to win the Class A Boys State Golf tournament that wrapped up it’s 36 hole tournament on Tuesday at the Bluffs Golf Course in Vermillion. SF Christian finished with a two round total 330 and 17 strokes better than runner up Tea Area. Chamberlain, which started the day in 8th place slipped one spot to ninth with a two round total 368. Mobridge-Pollock at a 432 to finish 14th. Lance Christensen of Little Wound won the indvidiual State title leading from start to finish. A second round 80 gave him a two round total 157 and a five stroke victory over Keaton Nighburt of Madison. Carson Van Beek of SF Christian was third with a 163. The top Chamberlain score was shot by Dayton Priebe who had a second round 85 for a two round total of 171 and a tie for 16th. Cameron Caldwell had a two round total 172 after a second straight round of 86. A total of 101 golfers finished the 36 hole tournament.
