PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor Cross Country teams competed in the Roger Loecker Cross Country meet hosted by Huron on Thursday. The meet was run on the course that will host the State High School Cross Country meet a week from tomorrow (Saturday). The Governor boys finished 4th with 122 points and were led by Hayden Shaffer who had a 9th place finish with a time of 18:05.51. Blake Judson also finished in the top 25 with a time of 18:49.06 good for 23rd. Brady Gere and Jared Lutmer were 32nd and 33rd respecitivly while Jayden Wilcox finished 39th, Tyler Gere was 41st and Isaac Polak 43rd. Aaron Ryan led a 1-2-3 Aberdeen Centra finish to win the race and the Golden Eagles won the team title with 17 points. The Governor girls were led by Jessica Lutmer with a time of 21:03.51 and a 7th place finish and Morgan Odekoven came in 14th with a time of 21:32.12. The Governor girls scored scored 118 to finish 5th behind meet winner Aberdeen Central who scored 41. Rachel Nemec finished 31st for the Governor girls while Jazzlyn Rombough was 37th, Hunter Martell 40th and BreAnna Lowery 41st while Kyla Keyes was 51st. The State High School Cross Country Meet is next Saturday at the Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.
