YANKTON, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals Boys Varsity Hockey team started out the South Dakota High School Boys League Season in high scoring fashion as they downed the Yankton Bucks 12-3 in Yankton on Sunday. The Capitals jumped out to a 5-0 first period lead and did not look back as they go to 1-0-0 on the season in league play and pushed above the .500 mark at 5-4-0 overall. Elliot Lief had a hat trick for Oahe while Raef Briggs added a pair of goals in the in the game and 7 other Capitals found the net in the win. Kieran Duffy started in goal and went the distance stopped 17 shots in the game. The Capitals have their league home opner next Sunday when Yankton pays a visit to the EXPO Center.

PIERRE, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals Girls Varsity hockey team was shut out in it’s season opener on Sunday as the Mitchell Marlins skated to a 7-0 win over the Capitals at the EXPO Center. Mitchell outshot the Capitals 40-10 in the game scoring twice in the first period and then putting the game away with 4 goals in the second period. They added another in the third. Abigail Stewart-Fromm turned aside 33 shots in goal for the Capitals who host the Huron All Stars next Saturday afternoon at the EXPO Center for their next game.
