PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governors trailed the entire game once again as they were beaten 57-48 by Rapid City Central on Saturday afternoon in Pierre. The Cobblers jumped on the Governors scoring 6 of the first 8 points of the game and never trailed as they won their 5th straight. Pierre trailed by 5 at halftime and were outscored 7-2 for the first 4 minutes of the third quarter and could not recover. And the Governors could not stop Kohl Meisman who led the way for the Cobblers with 28 points. Micah Swallow added 12 points. The Governors were led by freshman Lincoln Kienholz who had 13. Gray Zabel finished with 12. The Governors play shorthanded as 6’6 senior guard Paul Adam was ill and was not at the game. The Governors are now 0 and 8 on the season as they travel to Sturgis Tuesday night.

The Pierre Governor girls basketball team dropped their third straight as they were edged 50-47 in overtime on Saturday to Rapid City Central in Rapid City. The Governors had a 4 point lead at halftime but could not hold it as Central game back to force the overtime period and then outscored Pierre 9-6 to claim the victory. Jordan Eckert and Adi Young each neeted 13 points apiece to pace the Cobblers. Freshman Remington Price was the only double figure scorer for the Governors with 13 and led the Governors with 6 rebounds. The loss dropped Pierre under the .500 mark at 4-5 on the season as they host Mitchell on Thursday for their next contest.
