PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Athletic Coaches Association (PACA) has chosen it’s Avera Riggs High School Athltes of the Week for their performances in contest last week for Pierre Governor teams. Freshman Avyrie Kaiser of the Goverenors girls basketball team and Blake Judson of the Governor wrestling team have earned the honors. Kaiser has quickly developed into a hard-working, selfless teammate according to her head coach Scott DeBoer. When complimented on an excellent look/pass to a teammate late in the 4th quarter, she responded with “it takes two of us”. Her contagious, positive energy is going to make such an impact on her team for years to come. Meanwhile, after a tough Huron Dual Judson bounced back well earning 2nd place at the Let Tlustos Invitational in Brookings over weekend. Blake earned 2 pins and an 8-2 decision over a tough opponent from Canby, Minnesota before falling in the finals to the top ranked wrestler from Brandon Valley. His head coach Shawn Lewis says that Blake has been one of the top wrestlers in the State at 106 lbs and one of the hardest workers on the team.
