PIERRE, S.D. – It was a new game but the same old story and result for the Pierre Governor basketball team Tuesday night in Pierre. The Governors struggled from the field missing their first 7 shots and falling behind 8-0 and never recovered as Mitchell downed the Governors 62-40 at Riggs High Gym. Pierre was held to one field goal in the first period and trailed 15-3 and Mitchell never let their foot off the gas pedal the rest of the way. Pierre shot just 19 percent in the game but 39 percent from beyond the 3-point line as Pierre hit 5 3-pointers in the game but only 12 total field goals while Mitchell lit the stat sheet up with 66 percent shooting form the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Kaden Hinkle led the way for the Tigers scoring 29 points. The Governors got 19 from freshman Lincoln Kienholz and 14 from Paul Adam off the bench. Mitchell improved to 3 and 8 on the season with the win while Pierre fell to 1 and 14. The Governors return to action on Thursday when they travel to Sioux Falls to face Sioux Falls Washington.
