Pierre T.F. Riggs High School student Isaac Buchholtz has received a fully qualified offer of appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Isaac is the son of Brian and Kristal Buchholtz of Pierre. He was nominated by South Dakota Senator and Pierre/Fort Pierre native Mike Rounds.
Buchholtz says he’s honored to be able to represent both my country and family with this opportunity. He says becoming a cadet has been one of his top goals for years and he looks forward to the challenge ahead of him.
Rounds says our nation’s service academies are among the most elite educational institutions in the world, and receiving an offer of appointment to attend one of them is a high honor. Between taking AP classes, working construction, playing four sports and volunteering as a math and science tutor, Isaac has worked hard to prepare for the next four years at the U.S. Military Academy.
Each year, Sen. Rounds is able to nominate a select group of eligible students from South Dakota to attend our nation’s four service academies: The U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy.
