PIERRE, S.D. – The Pierre Governor girls basketball team could not hold a 3 point lead in the final minute and were defeated by the Huron Tigers for the second time this season in the closing seconds in a 60-59 setback. Huron scored the games final four points for the win and send the Governors girls to their 3rd consecutive lossd and a 7-11 overall record. The Governors girls will return a week from Saturday when they host Sioux Falls Lincoln in the final home game at Riggs High Gym

Meanwhile the Pierre Governor boys basketball team had a scoring drought in the 3rd period as Huron outscored them by 11 points and went on to record a 63-42 victory over the Governors in the final home game at Riggs High Gym. Huron built a 37-27 halftime lead but Paul Adam’s 3 points basket at the buzzer gave the Governors some momentum going into the locker room that quickly went away in the third quarter as the Governors scored just 4 points and were beind by 21 going into the final stanza. Nathan Boehrns led Huron with 21 points and Teegan Evers added 18. The Governors got 16 points from Lincoln Kienholz and 10 from Grey Zabel who just missed a double double with 9 rebounds. Adam added 9 as the Governors fell to 1 and 17 on the season. They travel to Sioux Falls to face Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Friday.
