PIERRE, S.D. – The Rushmore Thunder scored two goals in the final 9 minutes of the game to rally for a 3-2 win over the Oahe Capitals Friday night at the EXPO Center. The Capitals stied the game at 1 on a Spencer Wedin power play goal 21 seconds into the second period and then took a 2-1 lead with another power play goal from Clay Ambach at 4:01 of the third period. But Rushmore tied the game on Ethan Ellender’s goal at 7:41 and then scored the eventual game winner at 13:42 of the final period when Hunter Walla found the back of the net. Oahe pulled their goalie in the closing minute but could not ty the game to send it to overtime. The Capitals doubled the Thunder on shots on goal with a 36-18 advantage as goaltender Kieran Duffy made 15 saves. The loss ended a 3 game win streak for the Capitals who close out the regular season tonight when they face the Brookings Rangers in the annual senior night game at 7 pm at the EXPO Center.
