UNDATED – Three players from the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s basketball teams were named to the NAIA All-America teams on Thursday. In additions, one player from Mount Marty earned NAIA All American honors. Ty Hoglund of DWU was named to the men’s All-America first team while on the women’s side, Kynedi Cheeseman made the All-America first team and Sarah Carr was named to the third team. Chris King of the Mount Marty men’s team was named to the third team All American squad. Hoglund, who was also named the Great Plains Athletic Conference player of the year, made his second straight first-team appearance and third All-America team of his career. Cheeseman finished her career by making back-to-back All-America first teams, which saw her become the second player in DWU women’s history to score more than 2,000 career points while Carr Carr makes her second straight All-America team. King, who helped the Lancers to their best season in 16 years is the first Lancer men’s basketball player named to the All-America team since Highmore native and now head men’s basketball coach Justin Bonnichsen in 2006, and the first to make one of the three 10-person teams since Bonnichsen in 2005.
