WATERTOWN, S.D. – USA Softball of South Dakota is strongly recommending the cancelation of youth team practice and youth softball camps through April 20th due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. In a post on the USA Softball website, USA Softball of SD is also recommending that no youth games or tournaments be played until the May 2nd weekend. Sanctioned USA Softball SD events that begin in April for youth teams are two local association leagues as well as two travel leagues in the state. Other youth leagues in South Dakota, including Pierre, do not start until mid-May or later. The first youth tournaments are scheduled in May and if the asscociation needs to address the 5 game requirements for youth teams, it says it will. The softball group says that as new information is made available by the CDC, the medical community, or government bodies, they will make updates to our recommendations.
