PIERRE, S.D. – It is the beginning of week 3 of the Coronavirus (COVID 19) Pandemic in the country and South Dakota. All sports events are either postponed or cancelled for at least several weeks in the Pierre-Ft. Pierre area. Last week JO Softball Officials postponed the April 9th Parent-Player meeting that was scheduled. It will be rescheduled. Over the weekend officials extended the registration for the season a week. Registration Deadline is now scheduled on April 7th. Players can register on the Oahe Fastpitch Softball website. The season is still on date for a May 18th first games at the Oahe Softball Diamonds. All League softball for adults is also on hold for the time being until officials find out more about the COVID 19 situation. Meanwhile, South Dakota High School Spring baseball and the Pierre Post 8 baseball seasons are still on hold. The State High School Spring Baseball Officials are following the lead of the State High School Activities Association on spring sports which is now on hold until May 4th.

The Hillsview Golf Course opening date is still up in the air as Hillsview Golf Pro and Manager Caryn Hayn said last week that they were working with Mayor Steve Harding and the city to figure out when and if to open the course.

And the Capital Area Soccer Association Youth Spring Soccer League is still scheduled for a May 4th starting date but that depends on what the schools do and whether the outbreak of the Coronavirus epidemic expands and hits central South Dakota harder or stays on a low rate of spread.
