Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, South Dakota schools have been closed for a few weeks and aren’t expected to open again until May 1 at the earliest.
As a way for Stanley County school staff, school board members and students to see each other, a staff parade was held yesterday (Tues.) evening in Fort Pierre.
Supt. Dan Hoey says staff miss seeing their students and along with learning, traditional education provides a social experience.
Adults and Stanley County students lined the sidewalk along the parade route– while following recommended social distancing guidelines. Teachers waved from vehicles and many made posters or signs with messages on them for the students.
