PIERRE, S.D. -With the Coronavirus COVID 19 Pandemic putting life on a hold in the world and social distancing the new way of life, summer sports camps are on a holding pattern in high school and college ranks. Since many colleges have already cancelled their summer camps, high school camps are being forced to make some decisions that coaches don’t want to make. The Pierre Governor Boys Basketball Camp put on by Pierre Governor Head Boys Basketball Coach Terry Becker is still officially scheduled to be held the last week in May and first week in June.
Coach Becker says the individual camps are what he is concerned with having to make a decision on, summer high school team camps may also go by the wayside this summer. He says it will add some importance to having the camps.
Coach Becker says with temperatures warming outside, players may have to resort to an old fashioned way of keeping their basketball skills honed. Shooting at the basket in their driveway.
Coach Becker says players can still go to the City of Pierre website to sign up for the camps so players can be ready in case the situation with COVID 19 turns to the positive side of things for a change as far as life returning to some form of normality.
