WATERTOWN, S.D. – USA Softball South Dakota is still up in the air as to when league seasons can start and if they will need to postpone or move any State Tournaments to a different date due to the Coronavirus (COVID 19) Pandemic. On the USA SoftballSD website it says that the organiztion has chosen 4 dates to start to implement those alternative dates once it is decided on what they are. If a majority of leagues around the state start around June 1st, tournaments will stay as scheduled. June 15th league starts will have USA SoftballSD looking at moving all July events. July 1st league starts would have the group consider moving all tournaments that are scheduled. And if leagues have not started by July 15th, USA Softball South Dakota will set dates to host a state tournament for everyone, even if they did not play league in 2020. The group says it will do what it can to offer a state event for every entity in some form. They also announced that they received notice that the National Office is planning to announce by the first week of June whether they will host national tournaments in 2020. That decision could change dates and sites for USA Softball South Dakota as well.
