The Fort Pierre City Council held a lengthy discussion during last night’s (Mon.) meeting to decide how to handle city owned outdoor recreation facilities amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says the fish cleaning station by the Bad River boat dock is one area of concern.
City Finance officer Roxanne Heezen says state Department of Game, Fish and Parks owned facilities in the area will be closed until at least May 31.
Council member Todd Bernhard supported leaving the fish cleaning station open.
At this point, the boat ramps, fish cleaning station and Lily Park campground in Fort Pierre remain open, but the restrooms and water fountains in Lily Park are closed.
The Fort Pierre City Council held off on making a formal decision about whether or not the outdoor pool will be opened or if the 4th of July parade will be held.
