SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The American Legion National Headquarter is suspending all of the remaining 25 states from American Legion play this summer. On Saturday, South Dakota American Legion Sports Commissioners decided to proceed with a season despite the fact that the American Legion World Series and the 8 Regional qualifying tournaments were cancelled. State Athletic Sports Commissioner Dan Sudbeck of Parkston says he recieve an email at 2:29 pm from the National office that stated that all states are not allowed to have organized seasons run by the American Legion programs in that state. That includes Pierre Post 8. The announcement from the national headquarters doesn’t say that teams can’t play, but it says they won’t be sponsored by legion baseball. Sudbeck says that the American Legion Department of South Dakota knows this is hard for the players and coaches, but they did fight for a season.
