PIERRE – Fundraising for Pierre Governor Athletics will be done a little differently than in the past, at least for this year. As approved unanimously at Monday’s meeting of the Pierre School Board, athletes will raise funds through an app, known as “Rah Rah,” rather than through the traditional cards. This is with the pandemic in mind and keeping athletes from having to go door-to-door. Athletic Director Brian Moser explained that those downloading the app can choose specific sports to which to contribute. Also, along with local businesses, there will be the opportunity to do business with chains, including hotels, restaurants and gas stations throughout South Dakota and have that business go toward supporting Governor Athletics. Moser said that the “Rah Rah” app is being contracted through the same company through which the cards have been supplied and that the option would exist to either return to the cards in the future or stay with the app.
During the school board meeting, Moser said that sponsoring businesses will now have more marketing options.
Moser said that this program allows fans to support Governor sports with purchases throughout South Dakota.
