YANKTON – Jaiden Boomsma has been named as Yankton’s first Gatorade South Dakota Girls Soccer Player of the Year. Boomsma, a senior, scored 14 goals and five assists in leading the Gazelles to the AA state championship. She scored the game-winning goal in the state title win over Aberdeen Central. Boomsma is a two-time All-State player and was named Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Association. She is Yankton’s all-time leader in goals with 49 and assists with 15. Boomsma is Yankton’s second Gatorade Player of the Year for this past season, joining Matthew Mors in boys’ basketball.
