FORT PIERRE – Pierre’s Josi Stevens won the Breakaway Roping and Pole Bending events Saturday on the final day of the South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo at the Stanley County Fairgrounds. Stevens was one of two multiple first-place finishers, joining Landry Haugen of Sturgis. Josi also finished in the top four in Reined Cow Horse, so she will compete in three events at the National High School Finals Rodeo from July 17-23 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Layni Stevens of Pierre also made the National Finals with a third-place finish in Goat Tying. Layni competes in the National Finals for the second straight year. She finished 26th last year in Barrel Racing and 26th in Pole Bending in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
