SIOUX FALLS – Three more golfers have committed to the Sanford International, the PGA Tour Champions event scheduled for September.
Angel Cabrera, the 2007 U.S. Open and 2009 Masters champion, will play in Sioux Falls. Cabrera’s Masters win came in a playoff over Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry. Cabrera played on President’s Cup International teams in 2005, ‘07, ‘09, and ‘13.
Fred Funk also has signed up. Funk has won nine times in PGA Tour Champions, including three majors. He played on the 2004 American Ryder Cup team and on the U.S. President’s Cup teams in 2003 and ‘05. Funk became the oldest player to win The Players Championship at age 48 in 2005.
Also coming to Sioux Falls will be Kirk Triplett, who tied for tenth last year on his way to a top 10 finish in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. Triplett has 17 professional wins in his career.
The Sanford International is scheduled for September 11-13 at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls.
