ABERDEEN – Josh Vaughan was named Tuesday as the top assistant coach for Northern State men’s basketball, joining the staff of head coach Saul Phillips. Vaughan played for Phillips at North Dakota State from 2007-09, including on the 2008-09 team that won the Summit League regular season and tournament championships, qualifying for the Division I NCAA Tournament for the first time.
Vaughan has spent the last three seasons as head coach of Dickinson State with a 40-43 record and one appearance in the NSAA tournament championship game. Vaughn has also been an assistant coach at the University of Mary and Minnesota State-Moorhead, and director of basketball operations at North Dakota State and Wofford.
