VERMILLION – Former USD women’s basketball star Ciara Duffy is the Summit League’s nominee for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
Duffy is one of 59 Division I conference-level nominees for the award that recognizes female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
She graduated summa cum laude in 2019 with a double major in political science and history. Duffy worked towards her master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies during her senior year of athletic eligibility and maintained a 4.00 GPA. She was a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and led the Coyotes to two undefeated Summit League regular season titles, a Summit League Tournament title in 2020, a pair of NCAA Tournament berths and a pair of Women’s National Invitation Tournament appearances. She is the only player in USD history with more than 1,700 points, 600 rebounds and 400 assists. Her 1,793 career points ranks third on South Dakota’s all-time charts
