VERMILLION – Though the Missouri Valley Football Conference has postponed play at least until the spring, schools can still schedule up to three non-conference games for the fall. But that is becoming difficult.
USD had games scheduled with first-year FCS member Dixie State at the Dakota Dome and Iowa State on the road. However, Dixie State has postponed its schedule and Iowa State, allowed only one non-conference game in a revised Big 12 schedule, has chosen to use that for a home game with Louisiana. As it now stands, the Coyotes’ only non-conference game is set to be at Northern Arizona, and it isn’t clear if the Lumberjacks will be able to host USD.
The Missouri Valley is hoping to have an eight-game conference schedule in the spring.
