Weatherology’s forecast calls for a high just shy of 100 in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area today (Aug. 21).
Meteorologist Paul Trambley says the average high temperature for the area this time of year is in the upper 80s.
With the high temperatures, Trambley says the National Weather Service may issue some alerts.
In the winter, weather forecasters use the term “wind chill” to combine various factors to describe what the temperature feels like. Trambley says a “heat index” is the summer version of that.
