Today kicks off the first day of the South Dakota State Fair in Huron. State Fair officials are kicking things off with Value Added Ag Day. Going back in fair history, this is the 21st year that Value Added Ag Day kicked off the fair.
Even though this event has a history at the State Fair, this year things are going to look at tad different. South Dakota Value Added Ag Center Executive Director Cheri Rath said that this year everyone will have their own tents around the fairgrounds instead of being under the same one.
She says that there will be a variety of companies that represent valued ag. They will be scattered throughout the fairgrounds for you to enjoy. Rath says there will be opportunists to attend min-seminars throughout the day.
According to Rath, the Value Added Ag Development Center has been busy this year with the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been working on seven projects that have to do with meat processing.
