(Watertown Radio/KWAT)-Last month (Aug. 2020), South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s office announced a security fence would be built around the official governor’s residence in Pierre.
The governor’s security team recommended the fence but did not mention any specific threats having been made.
Noem says she’s been hearing some feedback.
Noem’s administration had proposed the fence last year, but abandoned the plan. The price estimate at that time was $400,000.
Noem spokeswoman Maggie Seidel says the governor’s handling of the pandemic had put her at odds with some people.
