VERMILLION – Quarterback/defensive back Tyce Ortman rushed for 253 yards and made nine tackles Thursday to lead the Canistota/Freeman Pride to their third consecutive 9A championship, 12-0 over Warner at the DakotaDome.
Ortman had a six-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 64-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for Canistota/Freeman (11-1), who totaled 298 yards rushing.
Warner (10-1) had averaged over 36 points a game in their first 10 games this season. Jackson McNeil rushed for 44 yards for the Monarchs.
