WATERTOWN – Dakota Valley surprised Rapid City Christian Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the SDHSAA A State Volleyball Tournament at the Watertown Civic Arena. Sioux Falls Christian, Hamlin & Parker also advanced.

The defending state champion Chargers (26-1) cruised past Madison with the help of 18 kills by Abby Glanzer. Sophia Vandenbosch had 8 kills for the Bulldogs (16-5).
(5)Hamlin 3, (4)Winner 2 (14-25, 25-17, 15-25, 25-18, 15-11)
Hamlin came from two sets to one down to top Winner. For the Chargers (20-4), Ally Abraham had 15 kills and her sister Ashtyn had 9 kills and 31 digs. Ellie Brozik led the Warriors (22-5) with 28 kills.
(6)Dakota Valley 3, (3)Rapid City Christian 1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-9)
Dakota Valley (16-5) stopped Rapid City Christian with a balanced attack. Rachel Rosenquist had 13 kills for the Panthers, followed by the 12 kills of Sophia Atchison and the 11 of Jorja Van Den Hul. Olivia Kieffer had 10 kills and 11 digs for the Comets (28-5).
(7)Parker 3, (2)Hill City 1 (25-21, 25-18, 18-25, 26-24)
Parker (19-7) spoiled Hill City’s first volleyball state tournament appearance. Shelby Land had 18 kills and 18 digs for the Pheasants. Hailey Wathen and Dale Schrier had 15 kills each for the Rangers (26-3).
