BROOKINGS – O’Gorman and Huron won semifinal matches Friday at the SDHSAA AA State Volleyball Tournament at the Swiftel Center. After losing a five-set first-round match Thursday, Watertown won another five-set match in the consolation round.
Semifinals
O’Gorman 3, Sioux Falls Washington 0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22)
Bergen Reilly led O’Gorman (25-0) with 13 kills & 12 digs. Raegen Reilly had 28 assists. For the Warriors (16-6), Sydni Schetnan had 16 kills.
Huron 3, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 0 (25-15, 25-20, 26-24)
The Tigers (18-4) held off the Rough Riders, who had upset Watertown on Thursday. Brooke Schiltz had 12 kills and Tenley Buddenhagen registered 30 assists for Huron. Abby Ward and Megan Halvorson had 7 kills each for Roosevelt (11-11).
Consolation
Aberdeen Central 3, Harrisburg 0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-14)
Brooklyn Kusler had 11 kills and 11 digs in the sweep for the Eagles (18-9). Abby Meister, Morrison Samuels and Reese Jansa each had 7 kills for the Tigers (14-13), who had taken O’Gorman to five sets before losing in the first round.
Watertown 3, Brandon Valley 2 (14-25, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 15-11)
Maggie Heesch had 20 of a team-total 61 kills for the Arrows (22-5), who had been stunned by Roosevelt in the first round. Brooklyn Grage had 20 kills for the Lynx (18-9).
