WATERTOWN – Sioux Falls Christian continued its dominance of Class A volleyball, winning its fourth straight title Saturday at the SDHSAA State Volleyball Tournament at the Watertown Civic Arena in three sets over Dakota Valley. The Chargers have won 9 of the last 11 championships and 10 overall. In nine sets in the tournament, a team scored 20 points against Sioux Falls Christian in just one.
Championship
Sioux Falls Christian 3, Dakota Valley 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-12)
Abby Glanzer paced the Chargers (28-1) with 19 kills. Rachel Rosenquist had 8 kills for the Panthers (17-6), who fell in the championship match for the third time in the last four seasons. Dakota Valley has won two titles.
3rd Place
Parker 3, Hamlin 0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-23)
Shelby Land led the Pheasants (20-8) with 11 kills and 16 digs. Parker matched its best state finish, achieved five other times. Ashtyn Abraham had 8 kills for the Chargers (20-6), who made the school’s first state tournament appearance since a runner-up finish in 2004.
5th Place
Madison 3, Rapid City Christian 0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-13)
Abby Brooks led the Bulldogs (18-5) with 22 kills. Madison, the 1995 champion, finished fifth for the second straight season. Olivia Kieffer had 15 kills for the Comets (29-6), who were in their fourth-ever state tourney.
7th Place
Winner 3, Hill City 2 (20-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-12, 15-10)
Ellie Brozik smashed 28 kills for the Warriors (23-6). Winner was in the state tournament for the third straight year. Dale Schrier had 14 kills for the Rangers (26-5), who went winless in the school’s first state volleyball tournament appearance.
