BROOKINGS – South Dakota State improved to 2-0 Monday with a 66-47 women’s basketball win over Creighton at Frost Arena.
Myah Selland scored 17 with 11 rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. Paiton Burckhard scored 13. Haley Greer, Tori Nelson and Tylee Irwin scored eight points each.
SDSU (2-0) broke a 21-21 tie with the last 11 points of the second quarter and scored 19 straight points in a stretch of just five minutes, extending into the early third quarter. Creighton (0-3) then cut the Jackrabbits’ lead to five with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter before South Dakota State scored the last 14 points of the game.
SDSU shot 40 percent and held Creighton to 31 percent shooting.
Earlier Monday, Greer was named as the Summit League Player of the Week for her 20-point performance in the Jacks’ 76-69 win last Saturday over Iowa State.
South Dakota State will next play Sunday at home against 18th-ranked Gonzaga.
