RAPID CITY – While Pierre Governor boys basketball played better on Saturday, the effort still was not enough to stop their losing streak. Rapid City Central outlasted Pierre 66-59 at Naasz Gym to extend the Governors’ skid to three games.
Pierre (1-5) led for portions of a game that included eight lead changes, but Central pulled away just enough at the finish, led by 31 points from Micah Swallow. He was 13-of-18 shooting with three three-pointers, seven rebounds and four steals. Lincoln Kienholz paced the Governors with 21 points, five three-pointers, three assists and two steals. Houston Lunde hit three from long range and scored 13 points. Jackson Edman added 12. Overall, the Governors shot 42 percent from the field and hit nine three-pointers.
The Governors will host Sturgis Tuesday at the Riggs High Gym. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on River 92.7, the DRG News app and the River 92.7 page at drgnews.com.
